Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO)

The Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO) is a multidisciplinary scientific society focused on the study, dissemination, training of health professionals, prevention and treatment of all relevant aspects related to the problems of excess weight. An entity highly involved in the national and international scientific field that has collaborated in numerous prevention and treatment initiatives of public health administrations such as the NAOS strategy.


Created in 2006 under Instituto de Salud Carlos III, CIBEROBN’s work targets the study of obesity, nutrition and physical exercise, as well as the genetics of obesity and the body weight homeostasis regulating factors. The group also works on the Mediterranean diet and the prevention of metabolic disorders that may affect health.

Centre of excellence for obesity treatments

The Clínica Universidad de Navarra has been accredited as a European leading centre of excellence in its treatment of Obesity, by the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO), in 2012 and 2014.
