Meet Aino

Aino is a 28-year-old mother of two children, ages 4 and 6 years. She has been your patient for approximately 12 years. She is seeing you today because she wants to address her increasing weight.

Aino had overweight prior to her first pregnancy. She has a family history of obesity (her mother). Her BMI then crossed into Class I Obesity after her first child was born. Aino had difficulty maintaining any weight loss prior to her second pregnancy, and has continued to gain weight with the birth of her second child. At 38.4 kg/m2, her BMI is now in Class II Obesity. Aino’s blood pressure and lipids are in the normal range, but her bloodwork shows impaired fasting glucose.
