Maria is a 38-year-old mother of three children, ages 4, 6 and 13 years. She has been your patient for approximately 16 years. She is seeing you today because she wants to address her increasing weight.

Maria had overweight prior to her first pregnancy. She has a family history of obesity (her mother). Her BMI then crossed into Class I Obesity after her first child was born. Maria’s blood pressure and lipids are in the normal range, but her bloodwork shows impaired fasting glucose.
